Overview
Every day was slightly different but most involved a mixture of training and and client work such as individual calculations.
Skills
Developed my presenting skills as all the interns prepared a presentation as part of a group and delivered it to other colleagues. I've used excel quite a lot so these skills have been developed. I've also learned a lot about the pensions sector.
Responsibilities
Yes pretty much from the 1st day I was given client work to do. However I knew this went through a thorough checking process which allowed me develop my actuarial skills in a less pressured environment
Support & Guidance
Support was very good. I was assigned a buddy who I could call or message if I was having any issues. Everyone else was also very supportive and open to questions.
Culture
Very friendly atmosphere. People very open to being asked questions.
Your Impressions
I found the combination of training and client work very enjoyable and would definitely recommend the internship programme.
Yes
For the initial stages don't rush through them and put a lot of effort into tailoring your application for Willis Towers Watson. If you get to the interview stage do your research into the pensions industry so you can show you have a basic understanding of pensions.
