Overview
Was given a customer engagement project to work on for the duration of the internship. Involved data analysis, liaising with people and teams across the business to gather information, and creating presentations. Final presentation on a decision RE the project to a senior director.
Skills
Crash course in SQL, which is used frequently, as well as in building presentation decks. You're very much in charge of your own project, so time management and taking ownership for your work are crucial skills you develop.
Responsibilities
You have full responsibility for your own project. Your conclusion (e.g. whether to implement some particular change) is likely to lead to (a) real business decision(s) for the company.
Support & Guidance
As well as your manager, you are assigned a buddy and a mentor in your team who provide guidance throughout. There is also support from across the company, especially in the first few weeks, where onboarding is very thorough.
Culture
Very positive! Friendly, relaxed atmosphere, with a clear focus on the work being done - people take their work seriously, but don't take themselves too seriously. People are always very happy to help with questions or problems, and even as an intern you're treated with complete respect.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed it. The onboarding process is very smooth. Work is interesting and varied, and the company culture is a big plus. Unfortunately working from home for the entire duration, but had opportunities to meet up with colleagues outside of work hours, which made it feel more 'real' in a sense.
Yes
Be switched on and thinking analytically in interviews. Structure your thinking for case studies, and don't rush into an answer. Be yourself! Genuineness is valued.
