Overview
On a day-to-day basis, I generally learn a new technology or work on my internship project. The day starts with a daily half-hour scrum meeting and at the end of every scrum sprint, we would plan the next one for one hour. After that, I usually work on my project or plan a meeting with my supervisor in order to discuss the project. Anytime I encountered a problem I had the possibility to ask my supervisor for help.
Skills
Yes, I learned many modern technologies: Scala, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Spinnaker, Akka, Akka Streams, HOCON, JSON processing, etc. I also developed my soft skills. One of the things that I really appreciated was the teamwork and even though I was only an intern for 3 months I had no problem fitting in and making a lot of work friends. Because I worked in a multinational company I had the chance to develop my communication and networking skills in the context of many teambuilding online activities.
Responsibilities
I wasn't responsible for any mission-critical projects. I only worked on my own project, but I was fully responsible for it from the development stage to the deployment. I was given permission to access almost all the company's IT resources (GitHub, Spinnaker, Jenkins, AWS, Azure, etc...) which enabled me to develop and test my application efficiently. Because these resources were shared I was really careful not to make changes that could have a negative impact on the other users.
Support & Guidance
Anytime I encountered a problem I had the possibility to ask my supervisor for help. He usually provided me with the documentation that I needed to complete the assigned task or he would help me with the debugging process during a 1:1 call. One of the things that I really appreciated was the teamwork and even though I was only an intern for 3 months I had no problem fitting in and making a lot of work friends.
Culture
I think the company is one of the most inclusive ones. There were lots of mandatory training materials to ensure a proper and comfortable work environment for everyone. There is no discrimination inside Adobe and the company sponsored a lot of internal programs to ensure this. I attended many training meetings in which people talked about inclusion and policies in order to make sure that Adobe is a safe, inclusive, and healthy work environment for everyone.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my internship very much, especially because of the many new technologies that I learned about during it: Scala, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Spinnaker, Akka, Akka Streams, HOCON, JSON processing, etc. I also had a proper income and the team was really open to me no matter the subject. Anytime I encountered a problem I had the possibility to ask my supervisor for help. He usually provided me with the documentation that I needed to complete the assigned task or he would help me with the debugging process during a 1:1 call.
Yes
The easiest way to apply to Adobe is via the Workday platform. After that, if your CV and qualification match the job requirements then you will receive an online challenge that contains different technical questions and coding problems. If you pass this stage you will attend a technical interview where you will have a live coding session. If you pass this one as well, the last stage of the process is an interview with the hiring manager.
