Overview
My role was not entirely finance as I was part of the Finance Change Team but I was able to work with various finance teams. I was able to use my theoretical knowledge into practice by understanding the teams' processes and be able to suggest an automated solution. Automation was not something I had done before but the role allowed me to expand my knowledge on something I would have not learnt in University. Everyday is different! I had no daily tasks as I would work on different projects where I led some of it.
Skills
I have learnt new skills as well as developed my existing skills. As my role required the use of various technologies, I was trained to use Power Automate to be able to help various finance teams as well as train others on how to use it. I have gained confidence in presentation skills and public speaking which I can use going back to University and beyond.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot of responsibility that I had anticipated. I felt valued as part of my team as I was responsible for most of the new projects within automation. Although it was challenging, my manager and the rest of the team supported my development throughout my internship.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support and guidance within my team especially when I was in training, they were very understanding and patient with me. Moreover, the intern panel did a great job in providing all the interns support and guidance as well with various of projects we were responsible for outside our roles
Culture
My internship made me realise how important company culture is in work life. The company culture at Travelport is amazing! Everyone I interacted with and met in the office were friendly and approachable. I did not feel like I was only an intern at the company and I was able to interact with the Senior Leadership Team.
Your Impressions
This internship was well structured as we were not only part of our teams, we had a lot of responsibilities outside our role and we were given a lot of opportunity to work with various teams as well as interacting a lot with the rest of the interns from different departments of the company.
Yes
This may sound cliché but I'd say just be yourself!
