Overview
Introduction to the firm's core practice areas Written tasks (rail finance and commercial litigation) Group presentation on innovation Social evenings One on one tutor/buddy meetings
Skills
It is a very interactive week with lots of opportunity to ask questions, network and present yourself in front of lawyers. So my communication skills and presentation skills definitely improved throughout the week.
Business Insight
Very informative. We had a presentation on the first day about SH's business strategy.
Culture
Everyone was kind, approachable and very generous with their time. Also, all the trainees had a great sense of humour during our one to one chats and social evenings.
Your Impressions
Highly enjoyable. Even my interviews during the mid-week assessment centre were rewarding and interesting conversations.
Yes
Speak to people at the firm before applying, internet research is great for the basics but ultimately every applicant will come across the same info. Having conversations with lawyers and HR (even if they're very brief) will give you much more personal reasons to explain your decision to apply to the firm.
