    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my time with the firm. The staff were lovely as were the offices.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I was invited to take part in lots of activities. I sat in on client interviews, was able to sit in on discussions with barristers and even had the chance to travel to the RCN with a partner!

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Both my supervisors and task setters were helpful, approachable and friendly. I have stayed in touch with some of them.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I started at 9am and finished at 5.30pm everyday. Throughout the day there wasn't a moment when I was bored or had nothing to do.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was able to assess quantum, interview clients, read case reports and train with the partners.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Even though I have received a training contract elsewhere in the commercial sector, I will take the skills with me that I attained on this placement.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office was friendly from the partners to the cleaners. The office was modern and light, right in the middle of the city centre.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I was always kept busy. There wasn't a moment where I had nothing to do, or where a member of staff was giving me a task.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • As mentioned above, I was given a multitude of opportunities and I responded to everyone. I particularly enjoyed how much client contact the firm gave me on a weeks placement.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The firm has the approach that you work as a paralegal and then after three years service you are considered for a training contract. Whilst I don't like this particular approach I can understand why the firm takes it in the current legal climate.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The staff go for drinks and lunch together and by the sounds of it they are all gym buddies and regular zumba attendees!

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Sheffield has always been a very affordable city to live in. It is no where near the cost of London, and is slightly cheaper than Manchester and Leeds.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Sheffield has a variety of bars and clubs, as well as restaurants and cafes.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • As I was the only student on placement that week, there wasn't much of a focus of student nights out or socials.

    3/5
