Overview
I was working with the Thematic Team within FIC research on their various projects, often quite broad in scope. I assisted in data collection, data manipulation, writing, editing and more general research tasks.
Skills
Yes, managing myself in a professional environment, networking, writing appropriately for a large and professional audience, as well as the creative process required to produce reports that will capture attention in a world busy with information.
Responsibilities
Yes, the greatest being writing market updates daily for an audience of high level businesspeople both internally and externally.
Support & Guidance
Excellent, they have a great mentor and buddy program that made me feel comfortable as well as challenged within the placement.
Culture
It was difficult to judge in some elements due to the pandemic and much of the other employees working online, however, the environment was challenging, but felt accomodating and exciting.
Your Impressions
I loved it, so much so that I’ll be there next year!
Yes
Try and participate in activities relevant to the division you are applying for. Be prepared for a challenge, as the bank has a large number of applicants, but very limited places. However, do be welcoming and open, as the bank appreciates well-rounded team players, and just generally nice people.
