The Role
I enjoyed my placement so much. It was a real job and I found every task satisfying and fulfilling.
I felt so welcome in my team. We all went on a picnic/treasure hunt get-together before actually meeting up in the office which helped a lot.
My manager was very supportive and I felt I could go to him about anything.
I would say I had almost the perfect balance in terms of business at work. There were the odd days where I was quiet, but this was the perfect time to get on with my uni work!
I felt I was given real responsibility in my role at Xerox. If my job had not been filled by a student, then it would still need an actual employee to cover the tasks I was doing, as they really mattered and affected the people around me.
I cannot begin to explain how much I learnt during my placement with Xerox, not just about business, but about myself, and about people in general. Every skill I learnt will be invaluable to my degree studies, and to whatever I end up doing in the future!
The Company
The atmosphere was perfect in my office, we all had a great time chatting and enjoying our time together, but at the same time, we all knew there was work to be done and respected each others deadlines and workflows.
Very well set up, I felt instantly integrated into my role and my team. I think this was aided by there being a large student community in my place of work, so there was always people to talk to and share your issues with. On the whole, I felt that I was in an organised placement environment.
There were a few opportunities for training, through our online system, however I applied for to do first aid training but was declined due to being a student, which I was really disappointed about.

I am unsure about future job prospects with Xerox as when I joined there was no graduate scheme, and graduates only got a job here if there was an available role within the business that needed to be filled, be it by them, or someone external. However I do think that Xerox are working on a graduate scheme, I just haven't heard anything about it.
The Culture
There were around 50 placement students at my campus so the social scene was amazing. Especially since we were located close to London and a tube ride away from the city centre.
I think it was quite expensive for the area I was living in, it wasn't the nicest of places, but they seemed to charge nearly as much as places in central London.
Not very good in the actual town I was living in, but there were places nearby we could travel to.
There were a few staff meals, but anything else I joined up to myself, without any help or guidance from Xerox.
