Overview
I develop Power Platform products, working on data for multiple projects with teams across the globe - all of which have the potential to impact the business and some of which I am leading and have responsibility for. I also work on various projects such as rolling out software changes to users, as well as taking part in several People Agenda workstreams to improve how the UK IT team works as a whole.
Skills
After 2.5 months so far Technical Skills: - Power BI - Power Apps - Power Automate - Remote Installation - Data Analysis - Data Cleansing Soft Skills: - Innovation - Time Management - Project Management - Agile - Presentation - Taking the Initiative - Communication - Organisation - Ability to take responsibility for projects - Problem Solving
Responsibilities
Yes. One of my projects is currently working with a couple people in the Europe Team, and I am the lead developer for a Power BI Dashboard (shows how much I've learnt already since I've been here). In other projects I am also taking a lot of responsibility, as I am often completing work that if it wasn't completed the project would not be able to progress into it's next iteration.
Support & Guidance
the first several weeks are based on general training and then also introduction to the projects that are being handed over to you from the previous placement year students. Then for the next few weeks it's basically about showing you the ropes and upskilling you to be able to handle the projects on your own before the previous students leave. The previous students also act as Buddies whilst they are there for the first month or so of your placement if you have any issues or problems. Even when the previous students leave you still have so much support from the rest of the colleagues and other placement students in your team. Everyone I've met in my team has been so nice, and have been both understanding and willing to accommodate for the fact that I am a placement student who has only recently joined. We also have mentors who help to develop our skills as well as listen to any problems that we might have. The same with our lne managers as well.
Culture
Really great. Everyone in my team is really nice and friendly. Whilst there are deadlines and expectations, all of them are very reasonable and negotiable if they are not feasible with what you can do.
Your Impressions
It's great, I love working here as everyone is so nice, and whilst there is sometimes a lot of work to do, you are encouraged to take control of your time and say no if it is not feasible for your current schedule.
Yes
Do not stress about having the skills to do the work before joining PepsiCo, you will be trained with everything you know. Everyone is extremely willing to help you learn how to do something so never be afraid to ask for any help. The interviews may seem scary but I'm I stumbled and rambled at every question, so they are very much looking for how you would fit the attitudes for the company
