The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement, the company is professional and gave me a real insight into the professional working life. The team I work with were brilliant, helpful and just genuinely nice people.
I have always felt a part of the team and included in the day to day work. On many occasions when I have performed well it has been pointed out and I have been thanked which I found very encouraging.
Help was one of the best things with my placement, as everyone on my team is so nice you never felt worried to ask people questions no matter how stupid they may have been. With my manager I have always been treated as an equal and my opinions have been listened to and taken into consideration.
I have always got work to do which is great because otherwise you will get bored easily. I have many weekly and monthly tasks that I perform aswell as projects on the side. This has also helped me alot with prioritisation.
I was in charge of some management reporting tasks and the maintenance of the my teams sharepoint website, alot of people within my team relied on the work i performed on a weekly basis
The interaction and the office life has prepared me for what my working life will be in the future but for degree skills I wasn't pushed to learn much more on what i had already gained for university.
The Company
Everyone in my team are lovely and friendly, I have always felt comfortable where I work.
From start to finish the placement ran smoothly and help was there at every corner.
There were many online learning resources which I could have taken advantage of although I didn't do as much as i would like as I was usually too busy.
Working from home
I believe the only way you could receive a job after placement is if somebody left the company and you replaced them, there doesnt seem to be a Graduate scheme where anybody could be guaranteed a job.
The Culture
We would always go out having fun as there were about 50 of us working for Xerox there were always plenty of people wanting to socialize.
Although being on the outskirts of London the rent and shops were not expensive and rent ranged from £310 - £400 depending on how fussy you were.
You would have to get a 20 minute taxi or a 50 minute tube drive if you wanted to have a good night but was very handy being able to get the tube into London
There were not many opportunities for events that xerox held, only a christmas party and the student booze cruise at the start of every year.
