Overview
My role as a Digital Summer Intern was to work alongside the Marketing and E-Commerce teams to deliver on large projects, such as transforming the digital UX. Day-to-day I also supported on smaller tasks such as producing social assets, tracking digital performance and packaging mailer send outs.
Skills
Yes. Soft skills such as communication, presenting, managing multiple projects and stakeholders at once are all key takeaways. However, working autonomously on a variety of large projects also required me to upskill myself in areas such as HTML and Google Analytics. Other obvious technical skills include Excel and Powerpoint.
Responsibilities
A lot of responsibility. I was directly responsible for Redken's user interface, which sees +15k monthly active users. I was given large workload with - at times - short deadlines.
Support & Guidance
A lot of guidance. The employee culture at L'Oreal is very collaborative. Everyone wants to help out with any problem you face, especially your Line Manager.
Culture
Collaborative and friendly.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship. L'Oreal was never on my radar as a company to work for, but now I will definitely be applying to return here when I graduate.
Yes
Be honest with yourself with what your interests are. L'Oreal caters to so many different pathways, don't feel like you have to divert from the path you want to explore, because it will be possible at L'Oreal.
