Overview
There were talks everyday introducing us to different aspects of the firm. In addition, we had the chance to network by reaching out to lawyers at the firm. We were assigned tasks to complete and had allocated time to do so.
Skills
Yes. I was able to develop my critical thinking and communication skills. By engaging in trainee tasks, I had to think more commercially and laterally. Because the scheme was online, I learnt to form relationships virtually and had to ensure that my written communication was sound.
Business Insight
It confirmed some of what I knew already, but definitely opened my eyes to the various aspects of a trainee's role. By participating in the scheme, I was convinced that the firm is where I wanted to work.
Culture
Fantastic. Everyone was extremely friendly and supportive. Questions were encouraged. Never felt intimidated or scared to reach out to someone, and everyone made time for me.
Your Impressions
To a large extent. It was helpful for me to get to know the firm too. In terms of trainee tasks and the day to day role of a lawyer at Linklaters especially, I understood more what a career at the firm would look like. I could also confirm what people had said about the culture.
Yes
Be yourself! The firm is looking for individuals who are diverse in their thinking to add perspective. Prepare thoroughly for the AC, understand some technical legal concepts e.g. M&A. Work hard during the scheme, make an effort to network.
