Overview
My role with Fisher German included accompanying a graduate every Tuesday and Thursday to an estate, shadowing client and tenant meetings and working in the estates office. I spent the remaining days in the main office completing tasks for my team.
Skills
I have learnt a large number of new skills. Constantly interacting with both colleagues in the firm and clients and tenants on the estates was great for developing my communication skills. In addition, having never worked in an office environment before it was great to fully experience working life at the firm. I also developed time management skills in completing tasks.
Responsibilities
Whilst it was difficult to hand over much responsibility in the management the estate, I was given a certain level of responsibility in carrying out tasks. For example, I was responsible for taking woodland stewardship photos for the whole estate.
Support & Guidance
The support throughout the internship was constant. Everyone in the office was very happy to answer any queries I had, even if they were not part of my specific team. In addition, all of the team would reply to emails very quickly to guide me in my work.
Culture
The office culture was extremely friendly and collaborative. From the offset I was welcomed into the team and felt comfortable. I think this is a key strength to Fisher German's approach.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed by summer placement. Whilst 10 weeks was a long time to be an intern, it allowed me to fully feel part of the team and learn about what the job truly entails. Being out and about on the estates was a highlight for me and I think I was placed very well following the application process.
Yes
I would definitely say that a key aspect to Fisher German's culture is being a people person who enjoys interacting and collaborating. I believe that if you show you are keen to learn and open to anything, they will definitely consider you as a good candidate for a placement.
