Overview
Sat within a department at the firm and was given work by a principal. We also had three projects due throughout the duration of the scheme, two of which were assessed. Graduate recruitment also held numerous sessions, such as Practice Overview sessions which were very informative. We also had the opportunity to reach out to people at the firm for virtual coffee chats.
Skills
I developed my organisation and time management skills by having to balance different pieces of work to ensure I completed them within the deadline set. My networking skills and confidence also improved by having the opportunity to talk to different people within the firm.
Business Insight
It was really interesting to learn about the firm's objectives and goals, and how it's going to achieve them. It was also very insightful learning about how the different departments are interconnected and how they all work together to achieve a common goal.
Culture
Everyone was incredibly friendly and it was clear people wanted to help you where they could. People at the firm took time out of their day to have chats with vacation scheme students to provide an insight into their time at the firm and what they do within their department which was incredibly insightful and helpful. Although online, it was clear that the firm is incredibly friendly, supportive and inclusive.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the vacation scheme and the sessions that were held. It was great to learn more about the firm and what tasks a trainee solicitor could encounter. Graduate recruitment also organised many socials throughout the scheme which were great and helped the vacation scheme students get to know each other due to the online nature of the scheme.
Yes
Ensure you research the firm properly and know why you want to do a vacation scheme at Linklaters rather than another firm. Be enthusiastic, but also genuine and show that you have a real desire to learn.
