The Role
I enjoyed having responsibility and a constant stream of work, as long as it wasn't too hectic. By the end of the year I was ready to leave.
Being part of a small team it was clear that my colleagues appreciated my work and maintained daily contact.
My team leader or manager was available for me to talk to if I needed help.
Early on I was bored due to lack of work, but this picked up within a few months, when I was moved into a new role and utilised.
I was put in charge of a certain aspect of our operations, and was able to conduct in my own way with little interference, and assistance was there if I needed it.
I wasn't given any formal training, but the skills I picked up on the job were very important and useful.
The Company
The atmosphere in my office was pretty dull, as my colleagues were based at another location. The people around me were nice people, but were not my age group and would vary on a day to day basis due to hot desking.
Initially it seemed there was no job there for me to do, but the management were very good in ensuring I was moved into a suitable role within a couple of months.
I would say the company got a good worker for a fair salary. They didn't invest in training but the on-the-job training was adequate in ensuring I was able to perform my work.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
There is an "Industrial Trainee to Graduate" scheme but I was disappointed there was no easy progression rewarded on performance, and every application has to go through "procedure". The company did maintain contact with me afterwards, but I found that to arrange assessment days or interviews I had to chase them for a date.
The Culture
Yes there were a good number of students, maybe 35-40, and I made some good friends over the year. There was always something to do.
Cost of living was good. There are a few bars, clubs and other facilities for sport etc around nearby Leamington Spa, but not much happening in Warwick itself.
See above. Some decent places but not much choice and became a bit repetitive eventually.
Weekly arranged football matches, maybe other events that I wasn't interested in taking part in.
