Overview
Very variable but my main source of work was the 8 week project that I was assigned. However, we were encouraged to engage with members of the Fixed Income team outside of the context of our project.
Skills
Extensive training at the beginning of the internship on financial modelling, analysis, presentation skills, technical skills.
Responsibilities
I was given almost complete independence on the work that I completed during the internship which was used internally.
Support & Guidance
As much as you needed. You are given a mentor who is a senior member of the Fixed Income team who oversees your project and a buddy who is on the grad scheme to help manage the internship. However, if advice was needed any member of the team seemed willing to chat.
Culture
Excellent, very friendly and far more open than I expected. You could reach out to anyone regardless of seniority and they would be willing to chat.
Your Impressions
Excellent experience despite the pandemic.
Yes
Be open when approaching the assessment centre. I knew little about the area before going in but no knowledge is really assumed. The most important factor seems to be your willingness to react to advice or comments and build that into your answers where necessary.
