Overview
In my first 2 weeks I was based in agency and was attended daily viewings and market appraisals. I then moved to the development and valuation department where I was completing new build comparables and analysing these developments. I also completed some work in the estate management department, where I was drafting tenancy agreements such as AST’s and FBT’s.
Skills
Developed my excel skills and use of formulas within spreadsheets. I also learnt how to use ARGUS to carry out a development appraisal.
Responsibilities
Yes I completed tenancy agreements, which involved contacting clients. I also carried out a development appraisal using ARGUS for a client. I felt like I was given a lot of responsibility and that the work I carried out was worthwhile rather than just doing work shadowing.
Support & Guidance
A lot of support. I was assigned a line manager but could also get support from other colleagues depending on the work I was completing. The graduate team were also very supportive and I felt I could contact them if I had any questions or issues.
Culture
Everyone was very friendly and made the effort to come and talk to me to see how I was getting on and where abouts I was at in terms of university/careers.
Your Impressions
Thoroughly enjoyed my placement. I gained invaluable experience and developed many skills that I can now apply to my last year of university.
Yes
Make sure you research the company and know it’s somewhere you would want to work. If you get an interview just be yourself and don’t try and give answers that you think they will want to hear.
