Overview
During the 6 week internship, 3 weeks were held virtually, in which we had to complete workshops and group projects, such as presentations. 2 of the 3 weeks in person consisted of working with a sales development rep at Walkers and selling Walkers to various outlets. The other week in person was spent working with Pipers, selling their crisps to various outlets in London, alongside my partner attempting to reach as many sales as possible. There was a lot of collaboration and teamwork involved in each of the tasks as well as a lot of independence.
Skills
Plenty of skills were learnt during the six week internship. Some of the skills I learned include speaking skills, sales skills, PowerPoint skills. These were hugely important for the internship itself bust especially for allowing me to grow professional for the future. My soft skills have developed greatly and being able to deal with diverse individuals has greatly strengthened my self confidence and my self belief. The internship truly developed and created many skills that I am grateful for.
Responsibilities
During the internship I was given plenty of responsibility. Virtually, we had to do many presentations, so working in groups it was up to us to deliver. This allowed me to be a good team player and a better leader. We had a dragons den task which was in groups of 3, so the responsibility was on us to deliver at the end of the internship. Working with Pipers for a week, I worked alongside a fellow intern and we drove ourselves to stores and attempted to sell Pipers to such stores- this was a great deal of responsibility we were bestowed with.
Support & Guidance
During the internship, we were given plenty of guidance, with the intern leads always available for any questions and did their best to support all of the interns. They were really helpful with the dragons den task and made plenty of time for us. The speakers in the workshops also taught us a lot of valuable tools for us to be best equipped to succeed in our dragons den task, as well as in our sales for Pipers.
Culture
The culture and atmosphere was unbelievable. It was so brilliant to see so many people so happy and passionate about their jobs and always eager and willing to help and support us at all times. I am really grateful that the culture was so welcoming and hospitable, as this made the transition into working life so much easier and more relaxing for all of us involved. Everyone was upbeat and positive and this made it so much more enjoyable.
Your Impressions
I personally really enjoyed my internship at PepsiCo and for me it was an absolutely amazing opportunity to grow professionally and also personally and I have so many individuals to thank for that. I have really come out of the internship a much more well rounded person and so many of the skills I have picked up I will carry with me forever. The internship really went above and beyond my expectations and I would highly recommend it to anyone else who wishes to apply for the internship.
Yes
The advice I would give to others applying at PepsiCo is to be yourself as the firm really values originality and personality and I would also suggest that you work hard and persevere and remain committed to the cause. I would also suggest that they research the firm the culture and what the firm stands for and make an effort to understand the role that they would be expected to carry out during the internship. I would also recommend that they reach out to PepsiCo employees and former interns to get a better idea of what will be required during that time at PepsiCo.
