Overview
- writing PowerShell scripts for automation - attending meetings - Preparing presentations - Completing risk incident forms
Skills
- PowerShell - soft skills like being able to tell a story, presenting - time management as I had to prioritise different tasks.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot of responsibility. All the scripts I wrote were actually pushed into production and I was always told about how my work would be used. I was even given my own project to simplify the data loss reporting process, where I had to create the timelines for the project and liaise with the different teams.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support from my buddy in each rotation. They were always on hand to answer questions and provided me with feedback on all my work.
Culture
Everyone was very welcoming and were genuinely interested in what I was working on. Everyone was approachable and readily offered their time.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the internship as I met lots of amazing people. I learnt so many skills that would help me, whatever career I decided to pursue and it was really satisfying, knowing that my work is actually being used.
Yes
I think it's really important to get across your interest for the business unit you are applying to. For example, in technology, knowledge of the big technologies and how they are used in banking would be very useful for the interview. Jefferies also hosts a lot of events for prospective applicants and I'd definitely recommend attending as it gives you an idea if the work that Jefferies is doing works for you. It also gives a lot of networking opportunities with senior staff which really helps show your interest in the firm.
