Overview
This placement is very unique as no two days were ever the same with the Co-op. From being out on farm, to in the office, the working environments changed and had the flexibility to suit what worked for me. From writing blogs, creating videos, updating social media, meeting suppliers, adapting to national issues within supply chains, the list is endless.
Skills
I developed many new skills on this placement, public speaking, professionalism within an office environment, communication, IT, multitasking, time management and knowledge both inside and outside of the farming industry.
Responsibilities
I was given full responsibility throughout my placement year and the independence to prioritise what I thought was needed. This helped me develop and feel a much valued member of the team.
Support & Guidance
Whilst I was given much independence, the support from the wider team and especially my manager was fantastic and much appreciated throughout, there was never a silly question!
Culture
The Co-op have a fantastic company culture for encouraging peoples personal development. This placement made me think about how I interact with other people and I really took this away from my placement experience.
Your Impressions
I highly enjoyed my placement with Co- op but my placement was somewhat hampered by the pandemic as to be expected like all placements during the pandemic.
Yes
My advice to other placement students would be to embrace every opportunity presented to them during their time at thr Co- op. Time will certainly fly there, which is a testament to the Co-Op team.
