Overview
Team calls, completing tasks for line manager and other members of both your team and other teams (if you choose to branch out). Lots of networking calls, some arranged for you but also you have the opportunity to arrange them yourself. Joining investment / market calls with whole Private Bank cohort.
Skills
I have definitely developed my team working skills, Excel skills, presenting, networking (communicating and summarising) and problem solving skills.
Responsibilities
I was given a project / task to run entirely by myself - I had to reach out to other colleagues in my team and other teams for guidance on how to complete this task to the highest level for my line manager. Definitely a high point of my internship when this was a success!
Support & Guidance
The support level was great. Although it was virtual if ever I needed any help I knew that I could reach out, although it is encouraged that you problem solve yourself first.
Culture
The company culture and ethos is brilliant - this is why I chose to do the internship here. I think the general atmosphere would have been even better had it been in person but due to the circumstances this internship was virtual.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it greatly - I would recommend it to anyone interested in exploring a career in a similar path. It made a great change to my degree and gave me lots of valuable skills and experience to carry through to the rest of my career.
Yes
Be interested, curious and willing to learn. Be yourself and take interest in the Barclays Values and apply them to your work life, and ensure you are meeting them.
