The Role
I enjoyed my placement for the first ten months I'd say. As the placement got towards the end things became a little monotonous but this may be down to my character (a constant need for new/interesting things) rather than the role.
I was part on a European leadership team. Though not a decision maker, people were always interested to hear my view or something and keen to hear what I thought of the next plan etc
My manager was great but I've heard of some never actually having meant their manager- luck of the draw!
Was kept very busy throughout the year. At points it meant no weekend but this is something you have to get used to. Others I know, had barely any work and found the year quite boring.
Being on a leadership team meant responsibility was harder to come by, as every decision you'd make impacted a large number of professionals. My team gave me the opportunities where they arose though.
In terms of degree, probably not at all/very little. In future, yes they'll definitely help.
The Company
It really depends on what location your based at. I was in the London office and the general atmosphere was good and great for networking.
The placement was very well organized. The only problem is the 'method' through which they choose who to have back as grads. It is not your manager that decides if IBM should take you back as a graduate but HR. Something that I, along with many others disagreed with.
Again this depends on your manager, some people had to undertake a lot of training intially just to be able to do their job. I, like others, completed training as I went along and as recommended by management. If I wanted to go on a training day my manager was happy for me to as long as I had covered all responsibilities in my core role.

Working from home
IBM is taking on quite a few graduates, though your hearing more and more that people consultants are being put on the bench, i.e waiting for a project. I've heard some graduates have been on the bench for 6 months+.
The Culture
Very good
N/A I lived at home as I'm from London.
Working on the Southbank was great for this.
Yes lots of charity work etc
