    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I worked in the Proactive Team which is a part of the Channels wider team which is then one of the four pillars of CBS. At Proactive, the main goal is to reach out to customer before they have the need to reach out to you. My day to day included viewing and analysing customer data to try and seek what the most efficient way to reach out to customers is.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • During the internship, I certainly developed my communication skills having to exchange ideas with other members of the team. I also had the opportunity to practice on analysing data on Excel and finally, worked vigorously on improving my presentation skills when delivering presentations to senior Bankers in the team.

  • I was given adequate responsibility to keep busy on a daily basis. However, I do believe I could have undertaken more tasks as I rarely found myself under real time pressure.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Support was excellent. All interns are assigned a "buddy" who is a graduate analyst at the Bank to help with the internship by giving advice, talking about what you like/don't like etc. Furthermore, all colleagues were extremely keen to help and assist with any question you may have had.

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Atmosphere was very healthy and friendly. People took a genuine interest in each other's wellbeing and worked collectively towards achieving a common goal.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my internship. I learned a lot of new things, developed skills and knowledge relating to the Banking industry and got the opportunity to interact with interesting, smart and ambitious individuals. As aforementioned in a previous question, I would have liked a bit more responsibility.

  • Banking is a pretty complex sector of the economy and is tough to work in due to long hours and complexity of work. Thus, when applying, make sure that Banking is something that genuinely interests you and excites you.
