Overview
As a Summer Analyst in Global Fraud Management Operations I supported team members with various tasks such as updating the daily stock of cases that needed to be handled, organizing information in spreadsheets and contributing to weekly investigation guidance meetings.
Skills
Besides learning to use the associated information systems required for the role, I learned new knowledge on the retail banking industry and fraud management in particular. I did not learn any new skills but I developed my existing MS Excel skills.
Responsibilities
The tasks I was assigned were to some degree critical for the team's daily function. However, they were pretty straighforward.
Support & Guidance
In this virtual format, it was indeed harder to interact with colleagues but for the most part I received adequate support from team members through Webex sessions and instant messaging.
Culture
Very transparent and positive. The Barclays values are truly followed by colleagues every single day.
Your Impressions
The virtual format made it harder to enjoy the internship but overral I would say it was a positive experience.
Yes
Do your homework beforehand and try to learn as much about the role you are applying for. The recruiting process is rigorous and you want to keep your feet and stand out of the crowd throughout.
