Overview
Placed in Painted Body HR Dept. as the HRM intern, allowing me to be involved in disciplinaries, grievances, EU settlement scheme, absence management, KPI management, Quality and Competency Matrices, intern onboarding, recruiting and various other HR activities. I was also given the opportunity to work within the Swindon team two days a week, developing cross plant communication and supporting the smaller team there. I was assisting the development of standardised policies and procedures between both sites and facilitating the ongoing establishment of the One HR community that BMW Group have encouraged.
Skills
Developed communication skills Taking self initiative Team work skills Organisation skills Prioritising work load Time management
Responsibilities
Loads of responsibility which I loved having it enabled me to push my limits and advance my professionalism within a working environment. Whole projects where I lead in front of those in higher positions than myself, although there was loads of responsibility it wasn’t too much and my manager was there to help me through it all.
Support & Guidance
I received bi-weekly feedback on my work and attitude to the placement from my manager, this regular interaction enabled me to also bring up and concerns I had to my manager. This support enabled me to pus myself and give me confidence in the work place in areas I once wasn’t.
Culture
Company culture was very diverse and supportive of women in the workplace. The atmosphere was hard working but also make sure you look after your mental space and your physical prosperity
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement throughout the whole year, it was a unique year as it was during covid. This meant working from home and social events were majorly effected but it was still an amazing year. The relationships I have now grown with the managers on my team and externally on my team are ones I will have forever. I loved my placement !
Yes
Be yourself when you are in the interview, also learn about MINI if you are applying to one of their plants. Don’t just learn about BMW. But most importantly be yours self and relax
