Overview
Day-to-day, one could expect to be trusted with their time to go through their assigned tasks. If any issues arise, your manager/colleagues can be contacted quickly via Teams or on email. Site visits are also part of routine.
Skills
I learned about stakeholder management and I developed many other commercial skills throughout my time at Grid. My technical skills regarding research, analysis and optioneering also developed.
Responsibilities
From the onset, I was treated like a full time employee at Grid and trusted to work without the need for micro-management.
Support & Guidance
My manager and members of staff who oversee summer placements and Power Academy Scholars were always one Teams call away if there were any concerns. Placement students also had the opportunity to support each other as we had our own Teams group.
Culture
The company culture is relaxed but focused. There is a great emphasis on work-life balance and working to support personal development in line with National Grid’s goals.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement - this is testament to all the great people I met and the variety of work I was exposed to in such little time.
Yes
Do not hesitate with sending that application. The energy sector is in a very exciting time and the variety of work in upcoming projects will keep one enticed daily.
