Overview
I was a retirement intern, a normal day would consist of doing reasonableness check spreadsheets, reviewing documents, shadowing colleagues and preparing for my intern research project.
Skills
I developed my confidence a lot both in communicating with colleges and having confidence in my work. I also developed my presentational skills through the intern research project, time management skills through prioritising specific tasks and IT skills specifically in excel.
Responsibilities
I was given access to specific client folders when doing work related to that client and given responsibility in completing reasonableness spreadsheets, which were checked afterwards. I talked directly with some clients and had responsibility here for the impression I made.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support and guidance specifically through my Intern manager who regularly checked up on me. I also received feedback twice during my internship on how well I was doing
Culture
It was a friendly and very inclusive atmosphere and I felt part of the team
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my internship. I learnt so much about being an actuary and learnt about what a career in this field may look like. There was lots of social opportunities and the office had a really nice atmosphere
