Overview
In my week as a First Steps Participant I networked with graduate recruitment, who delivered an application workshop and welcomed us every day. I met with partners and trainees who made time to present their specialties and allow us to interview them.
Skills
I developed stronger market awareness as a result of the sneaker market simulation. This also developed my ability to cooperate and work in a team as I collaborated with other participants to develop our own brand. This blended our knowledge, skills, creativity and individuality.
Responsibilities
In terms of responsibility, the opportunity to build our own simulated sneaker company in a complex market was a significant amount of responsibility which I appreciated during less than a week of work experience. The graduate recruitment are open to suggestions, our ideas and what we hoped to gain from the experience.
Support & Guidance
Graduate recruitment was always very present and the equally supportive partners and trainees were open to questions and to support us during our work. There was even a chat box made to support participants from anything for general questions and applications to IT support.
Culture
The culture was very, very friendly, open, supportive and fun. The graduate recruitment and staff were clearly comfortable and supportive of each other. The general atmosphere was ambitious, hardworking, but relaxed. I did not feel judged and felt comfortable just being myself. My mentor was lovely and accepted me for who I was straight away.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the internship to a great extent. Every day was crammed with information, new memories and hilarious social events. I enjoyed the whole experience and hope to continue to work at the firm in the future. I appreciate the effort that was put into making this placement so enjoyable and insightful.
Yes
Please be yourself. CMS is very supportive and diverse. The graduate recruitment team is so understanding and willing to listen to everyone's personal journey into law. If you get onto the scheme, try to make the most of it because it is very insightful and fun, but goes so quickly.
