Skills
Yes whilst on my placement, I learnt a lot of new skills in all areas of Human Factors as well as engineering. I learnt about Human Centered Design for systems. I ran User experiments and trials. I developed on existing computer skills. Researching was another huge part of my placement that is proving invaluable for my last year at uni.
Responsibilities
Yes, you are given a lot of responsibility that gradually increases the further into the placement you get, there is the odd downtime when switching projects but this is expected. You also are given the odd internship tasks but this is also expected and part of the learning process.
Support & Guidance
I received more support and guidance than I thought was possible! You get given a buddy multiple managers the main one for your department and then for individual projects. As well as a technical coordinator for your placement so any questions get answered and there is always someone available to help out with anything.
Culture
Company culture was great although a little skewed by covid, the general atmosphere was what is expected of an office plenty of resources and great canteen etc.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement immensly! It was everything I wanted and more, cant wait to return to the graduate scheme!
Yes
Be yourself practice for the interviews and don't be afraid to ask lots of questions and show lots of passion for the military aspect as well as your given role.
