The Role
Learnt a lot about investment banking and had a very busy 3 days
I met a lot of like-minded people and made a lot of friends
The staff were very friendly and willing to help
There was quite a packed schedule but I felt that the timetable was well planned
As an insight programme, I did not expect to be given much responsibility, although I would have liked to be able to do some work shadowing
I learnt a lot about investment banking and, in particular, the role involved in Global Banking and Markets
The Company
Very friendly and welcoming
Packed schedule but well organised.
We had talks from senior executives as well as junior staff, showing the firm's commitment to investing in young minds
HSBC seems like a fantastic place to launch my career because of the willingness of staff to help
The Culture
We were giving time off in the evenings which was very good for socialising with other interns
Canary Wharf is expensive but HSBC gave us expenses claims for food
We didn't really have much time to experience 'nightlife' in Canary Wharf in the evenings but I'm sure it was nice.
As it was only a 3 day programme, there were not really many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work
