Overview
I assisted in the Audit of a company. I attended daily stand-up sessions with my team, in which I gave an overview of the work I had performed in the past day. I helped other team members with any tasks that they required assistance with, such as verifying bank balances, emailing the client, organizing files, etc.
Skills
I developed my communication and interpersonal skills, as I talked to my team regularly, asked questions, communicated my work progress. I developed technical skills in Audit through doing different tasks, giving me a better understanding of what the auditors role entails. I developed time management and organizational skills, the capacity to work efficiently and prioritize tasks that are more pressing.
Business Insight
In the first days, we had an induction talk for all interns where they gave an overview of the company. We also had the opportunity to talk to current graduates and ask them about their role and the programme. This gave me a good overview of the company, its culture, and the variety of opportunities it offers.
Culture
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there were restrictions regarding the social activities we could carry out. I was working from home and therefore did not have a chance to interact in person with my colleagues. The company culture was supportive, but extremely busy and fast paced.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed working with my team, as everyone was friendly and tried to help when I asked them a doubt. The work was interesting, but it would have been a good addition to have shadow sessions with more senior people in order to get a better insight into Audit.
Yes
When applying to Deloitte, you need to know the company extremely well, especially for the interview. The application is straightforward, with an online application followed by an immersive online assessment, a job simulation and a final interview. Throughout the application, it is important to keep in mind the company values and the type of person they look for. I applied because it is a company that encourages excellency, with great career opportunities an interesting work.
