    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

    • Each day we got to have an insight into a different area of the firm such as Diversity & Inclusion to the Intellectual Property practice area. We got to meet many new people doing the internship and people at the firm. There were many opportunities to ask questions and get to know the culture of the firm a bit more.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

    • My networking skills have developed greatly as we had the opportunity to network every day nearly. There would be break out rooms where we would be set discussions. We also got to speak to lawyers in certain practice groups we were interested in.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

    • It was great to learn more about the future vision and strategy of the firm. Especially the many new roles within the firm in its shift away from a traditional law firm model. It was encouraging to hear stories from current trainers within the firm and the level of support they receive.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

    • Excellent. Everyone was friendly and open to hearing your questions. This was visible at all levels of the firm. The firm made a great effort to ensure the welcoming and open culture was transparent although the internship was virtual.

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

    • It was fantastic. The activities on offer such as client meetings and stakeholder simulations made it an engaging experience. We got talks from different business leaders and an insight into the business world more generally. I felt like the firm genuinely wanted to get to know more about me.

    • Ensure you have done a lot of research into the firm and understand what their vision/goal is. Know what makes them different - this can be done through the website. Know some more niche things about the firm such as technology they use. Show that you are a people person.
