Overview
My placement opportunity at Visa/Cybersource enabled me to gain valuable experience by working in a software development and testing environment. I tested software regularly to ensure accuracy and confirmed any changes made were correct, valid and comprehensively tested to help remove bugs or errors. I learnt different testing techniques and I used a wide variety of different tools e.g. Postman, jMeter and SQL Developer. I enjoyed working as part of an agile team.
Skills
Visa provides many resources to help enhance your skill set. I learnt different testing techniques such as Transitional, Performance and Exploratory Testing. I ran large suites of automated tests using Jenkins and learned how to work in the software industry in an Agile Environment using industry software such as Git (Bitbucket), Postman and JIRA. It was beneficial to me to participate in the Release Process to understand how code is deployed to a production environment.
Responsibilities
Yes, I worked in one of the teams and picked up any work that could be completed as it became available. I was treated just the same as any other Test engineer and made to feel like I was a key member of the team from the very beginning and given as much responsibility as everyone else in the team.
Support & Guidance
I received lots of support and guidance during my placement at Visa/Cybersource. From weekly check-ins with my manager and mentor and daily catchups with my buddy, there was great support available to me at all times during my placement.
Culture
Everyone is always happy to help and offer guidance. Everyone I interacted with was always very friendly and willing to help and the overall company culture was great and I felt like I was a key member of the Visa Family.
Your Impressions
