Overview
Daily interactions within my team, and also to other teams, where questions outside the team specialisms were required. Projects included responding to external feedback on a safety and maintenance policy, justifying the safety claims and report writing. An additional project was recording and categorising design vs manufacture deviations on vessel parts, including safety justification for their continued use. Attended and contributed to core team meetings and wider team meetings.
Skills
I feel I was able to develop my research and written communications skills, including my understanding on where is appropriate to outsource for help, and where I work independently. Critical thinking and technical judgement skills were also developed, and I learnt to use the internal company computing systems proficiently during my 10 weeks at the company.
Responsibilities
I was given a reasonably high degree of responsibility, to complete my project and know when and where to ask for help. I was required to work independently and use my own judgement when updating or justifying the policy on question. I was given the responsibility to handle classified information, and to work on a official-sensitive document.
Support & Guidance
I received a high degree of support from my direct manager, and the on-boarding team were helpful when I reached out to them
Culture
As a new intern, the workplace was initially daunting but I though the culture was friendly and supportive. The workplace was professional.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the internship, and will be excited to return to the company.

Get involved in extra-curriculars as well as achieving good degree grades for your CV. Anything that shows you undertaking some level of responsibility or leadership is helpful. The interviews are focused on problem solving, make sure to talk the interviewer through your thought process! Regarding the group interview situation, whilst ensuring that you have a say, also make sure to listen to each other, and remember to time-keep. Be friendly and open, and enjoy yourself!
