Overview
Working through user stories from the product backlog in order to help the DevOps team develop an app. High use of Azure DevOps, git, and (in this case) TypeScript. Did a lot of work do document internal software services using Open API specification (OAS 3.0).
Skills
Developed team working skills in a DevOps environment. Learnt to interact with the MuleSoft Anypoint platform, and further refined knowledge of TypeScript/NestJS and REST/GraphQL APIs.
Responsibilities
Yes, the work I produced as part of my projects is live within the company, and some code I have written is in a production build of the public-facing application. Additional work involved evaluating and decommissioning unnecessary cloud services (from AWS and Azure).
Support & Guidance
EC team provided useful guidance and support for getting going in the company, and provided good training on soft skills such as networking and presenting.
Culture
Everyone is very friendly and willing to give their time to help you get set up, or work through any issues/blockers you have.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed putting the theory from university into practice in a corporate setting, and learned a lot about the way software engineering is done in practice.
