Overview
The insight programme was 2 days long. I had the pleasure of interacting with other spring interns who secured a place in this programme, and we partook in various case-studies. We were given an insight into how the capital markets division at RBC functioned and were given masterclasses on various aspects of the deal-making process. We were also walked through the different divisions at RBC and their functions.
Skills
I developed crucial communication and teamwork skills during my time as a spring intern at RBC; group exercises encouraged engagement between peers, and I learned how to analyse large amounts of data and present it succinctly. Furthermore, I also developed my understanding of the financial markets.
Business Insight
The spring insight programme at RBC proved to be extremely insightful and enjoyable for me, as I gained a crucial understanding of how the capital markets division functioned, and I also gained knowledge about the functions of different divisions. This proved to be crucial, as learning about the business enabled me to make an informed judgement regarding my choice of division for a potential summer internship with RBC in 2022.
Culture
The companies culture was extremely positive and unique. I found it extremely easy to talk with senior management as they were very approachable, open and hospitable. As interns, we were encouraged to ask questions about the firm.
Your Impressions
I found the insight extremely enjoyable as I enhanced my knowledge of finance and banking, and was able to widen my network of industry professionals. Being exposed to other individuals interested in the world of banking and finance helped develop my passion for this field.
