Overview
The role varied across departments as each department in Lidl has a multitude of different tasks and difficulties. The role as a placement is to best learn these departments and hopefully be good enough from this learning to start “running your own shift” making important decisions that best benefit the business or be there for support. These different departments for me included Stores, Transport, Supply Chain, Re-Merch and Selection.
Skills
As I already worked for Lidl in stores I already had a good base knowledge of the business. Going on the placement advanced my knowledge and skills beyond what I thought I could achieve. My knowledge of the business as a whole is 100x better which has allowed me to develop my skills as a shift manager in store as I know how best to benefit the business.
Responsibilities
I had lots of different responsibilities over the course of the placement. I ran shifts on my own in Transport and I was responsible for a large amount of the ambient orders in supply chain. I also ran a two different teams doing different jobs around the warehouse.
Support & Guidance
The support was brilliant and I could not of asked for anything better. The training consultants are always available, very personable and helped me whenever I needed throughout and still do. As well as this the staff you work with on a day to day basis we’re incredibly welcoming and gave me lots of chances to prove myself and learn.
Culture
The culture of the company was a very pleasant place to be. A very clear passion to do well but also taking into account the people and how everyone should be given a chance and treated well.
Your Impressions
Doing the placement was the best decision of my career so far and I enjoyed every minute of it. I was gutted to leave and I still miss it now.
Yes
Be passionate, be enthusiastic and show what you can do. In my experience they appreciate someone who wants to be there and wants to work hard and shows initiative.
