Overview
The scheme involved listening to a number of commercial and culture based presentations and reflecting on them with other candidates in a networking capacity, or in a team-work break out room capacity. We attended workshops on the anatomy of deals, presentations on training at Linklaters, and sessions on diversity and inclusion at the firm and in the legal sector more generally.
Skills
The scheme enabled me to develop my team work and networking skills as it involved a number of group exercises and networking sessions. I was also able to hone my commercial awareness skills as the corporate workshops we received furthered my interest in M&A transactions.
Responsibilities
As it was a first year scheme, the level of responsibility we were given was very low. This was not something I was bothered by however as the sessions attended gave me the background knowledge and skills required to take on responsibility through the vacation scheme.
Support & Guidance
We became very familiar with many members of the graduate recruitment team who we would be able to contact at any time with any concerns or queries, which made me feel supported.
Culture
Very warm and friendly. Linklaters’ culture is unmatched by any other firm. Their commitment to diversity and inclusion at every level really shone through throughout the scheme.
Your Impressions
A lot! I am a bit shy so I was worried I would not enjoy the interactive or social elements of it but I found that actually as everyone at the firm, and even the other attendees were so kind and welcoming, I was able to be a bit more forthcoming than I usually would.
Yes
Ensure you know which practice areas and sectors Linklaters operates the most in and that you have an interest in that type of work. It is useful to know the degree to which CSR is integrated in every aspect of their work.
