Overview
The scheme allowed an accurate insight into the firm and its culture by placing you into departments and making you follow their current deals. You would be tasked with working on research and assist in the deals your supervisor is involved in, ie, research legal issues, draft documents, listen into phone calls.
Skills
I have developed most skills linked with the solicitor profession. Written expression, Legal research, critical thinking, client relations, time management.
Business Insight
It was very insightful and rewarding. Up to this point of the selection process you are being evaluated and selected, at the vacation scheme you can explore every aspect of the work and learn about the firm as much as it learns about you.
Culture
Very pleasant. Everyone at any level was very down to earth and approachable. People were easy to talk to and understanding of a possible lack of experience.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my time at the firm. As mentioned before people are nice and the culture is one of support and open mindedness. The work done has been interesting and the opportunities to learn about the different departments and network with people have been frequent and enjoyable.
Yes
Do your research and be prepared but ultimately be yourself, the firm is a nice environment and therefore it looks for people with whom others would enjoy working.
