Overview
QA testing, automating testing of new releases, creating CAD models to test new features, updating the documentation.
Skills
I learnt VBA and Javascript. I also learnt how to use the Oasys LS-DYNA software which may prove useful in my year 3 project. I also improved my communication skills.
Responsibilities
Yes. Since I am working from home, I did a lot of independent work. I was trusted with some tasks as much as a full time engineer would. I also took all the responsibility when I volunteered to take part in other activities not directly related to my role.
Support & Guidance
Whenever I have a problem with something, I can just ask for help and I will receive it. Everyone is really nice and happy to help you.
Culture
This is the nicest place I worked at. Everyone is really nice and despite people having more senior roles, it does feel like they're equals and I wouldn't be intimidated to chat to them.
Your Impressions
I love it. It helped me decide on my future career as I can chat to people from other teams and even get involved with their work!
Yes
Research the company. In particular what they stand for and read the Ove Arup Key Speech. Also don't be scared of reaching out to Arup employees on Linkedin as I'm sure they will be happy to advise you.
