Overview
Creating content for the WBUK site, subscriber email, and social media. Specifically the WBUK and IRL TikTok accounts. Keep track of social media engagement (followers, likes, views, etc.,) every day and think of ways in which this can be improved upon.
Skills
Learned how to use various new software e.g. CMS, Salesforce, SAP. Have built upon the ability to understand consumers' and audiences' wants and needs in terms of what content they find entertaining and will engage with positively via social media. Have improved upon my excel skills, and most importantly have bettered my written and oral communication.
Responsibilities
Yes. This placement isn't about fetching coffees for your managers. This placement has given me the opportunity to collaboratively work towards bettering marketing campaigns for many large film titles such as The Batman and Dune. Your team doesn't look down on you or give you less responsibility. From the moment you are hired, you are treated like an equal and very rarely doubted. They encourage you to take initiative and speak out.
Support & Guidance
There are different people you can get support from. There are other interns, grads, and apprentices all around the same age as you, which is great for building new friendships and you all understand what the other is going through. Each month we also have an Early Careers call with all of the non-permanent workers where we can get support and learn new things. I also have two 1-2-1 meetings every week with both of my managers.
Culture
The company culture is probably my favourite element about this company and also the most surprising element. As it is such a large international company, I never dreamed that one of its top goals of the year was to ensure its company culture was kept intact within such trying times. I have had conversations with the head of marketing and the country manager at work events who give you the time of day and don't treat you like you are worth less.
Your Impressions
I have loved this experience and have felt that it's definitely been worth taking a year out of university to complete. Everything from the company culture to the projects I have been lucky enough to be a part of has made it extra special. Not to mention working within one of the largest entertainment companies in the world! It has definitely exceeded my expectations and would love to come back within a permanent role once graduating.
Yes
Apply early and take your time with it. Really think about why you want this and make sure the passion as well how you can benefit the company comes across. Be honest and down to earth in interviews. Make sure to wear something professional in your interview with an appropriate background. Read up on the company and any news surrounding it at the time. Research our upcoming film titles and make sure you are familiar with the tone/theme and cast.
