Overview
Supporting the WarnerBrosUK social media sites (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and TikTok) by creating content and managing competitions. Managing the WarnerBrosUK website, ensuring titles are updated with correct, localised information, and posting editorial collections and news articles. Developing the CRM strategy by building and sending newsletters to the WBUK subscriber database, highlighting trailer debuts, recent releases or seasonal content. Analysing and presenting Box Office data, comparing current titles to previous releases to identify trends.
Skills
I have strengthened many key skills, such as communication and presentation, as I am required to send emails to many senior members of staff as well as external agencies. I have also developed my organisational skills as my cross-divisional role requires me to work on many projects at the same time to different deadlines. I have also learned how to use software, including Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro, Microsoft Excel, Salesforce, and Movio.
Responsibilities
From day one, I was given the responsibility of managing all WBUK social sites, including the website and newsletter. I was supported throughout this but there was a lot of emphasis on ensuring I developed the key skills to feel confident in my role early on. After 6 months, I took on the role very independently and feel that I have a lot of responsibility for the newsletter as well as creating TikTok content.
Support & Guidance
There was a three-week handover period with the previous placement interns, who also supported our new role after they left. My line managers ensured they were keeping in touch with me regularly by scheduling daily catch-ups while I was new, and weekly catch-ups when I felt more confident in my role. I am also supported by the Early Careers team in weekly networking connect sessions.
Culture
The culture emphasises that everybody is equal and anybody is free to start a conversation with a colleague, regardless of seniority. Everybody is very respectful and inclusive, and diversity is a large priority. The office atmosphere is very lively, and a sense of community can be felt at all times, with the company ensuring to organise company events to promote this community further.
Your Impressions
I have loved every minute of my placement, both from a professional side in developing my skills and knowledge, as well as from a social view as the intern network and wider business community is very welcoming. I would love to continue this placement as WarnerMedia is an excellent organisation to work for and I have learned more than I ever felt I could.
