Overview
My time in valuation was spent working on a holiday park report that my mentor was completing. I also had the opportunity to go out on site to visit several holiday parks. On Thursday I spent some time in planning as well as carrying out other general tasks. I was made to feel very involved within the team and also got to see what my work was contributing towards.
Skills
Yes - I have learned basic Promap skills as well as developing my skills on Excel. This was along side learning more about the industry in general.
Business Insight
I was extremely surprised to find out just how many services Savills have to offer and how many dedicated teams there are. All the talks given within the Zoom meetings were very informative on how to become a part of a particular team and the wide range of roles available within each team.
Culture
Very pleasant. Both my line manager and mentor were happy to help me with anything I asked about. Everyone who I met was both approachable and friendly. The office had a flat management structure and therefore it was easy to communicate with everyone in the team.
Your Impressions
I would say I really have enjoyed the insight programme and I will be applying for other schemes that Savills has on offer to undergraduate level students.
Yes
Even before applying if you have experience of talking to professionals within the industry and put this in your application it shows both proactivity and also that you are thinking of your career whilst studying. Also possibly thinking outside the box a little bit, if you give generic answers to every question asked then there will be nothing to make you stand out. And finally I would suggest just being genuine.
