Overview
I spent roughly half of my time at Savills out of the office on inspections, viewings and land management meetings which were incredibly informative. Whilst in the office I spent time talking to other agents in order to collect comparable information, calling estate tenants and clients, updating rent review forms, and working on a valuation report for an estate I visited previously in the week.
Skills
I have definitely seen improvements in my confidence throughout the week when calling other agencies and clients etc. I have also gained a better understanding of working with data on Excel and being able to use the software to enhance my work. Furthermore, I have learnt how to network in the workplace and develop relationships between myself, graduates and even senior members of the team.
Business Insight
Learning and understanding about this was really informative. I was not entirely aware of how many different career paths within Savills there were at the start of the week but I have been positively surprised. I am still not entirely sure of the area of profession I would like to go into but knowing that there is a myriad of opportunities available is very encouraging.
Culture
I found the company culture to be very friendly and team orientated. I really liked the fact that senior members of staff are not separated in the workspace from graduates and that employees are encouraged to ask questions when unsure. I can only give positive feedback about the company culture and general atmosphere during my week at Savills.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight programme. I found it to be incredibly informative and useful for developing both a wider knowledge of the career path and expanding my professional skillset. I could not recommend the programme enough.
Yes
I would say that others applying to Savills should just be themselves - it is very important that as a professional in this career that you are able to work as both a team and alongside clients. Being personable and friendly is definitely an important aspect of the job.
