Overview
It was a lot of ad hoc work dependent on what was going on at the time. No day was the same. Weekly jobs of the cashflow would need to be done and monthly jobs of the production calendar and maintenance of the contact list for the studios.
Skills
Learnt how to multitask well, organisational skills too. Lots of practice on Excel and Adobe. As the time progresses you'll gain more responsibility such as paying invoices and helping with month end requirements.
Responsibilities
Lots of responsibility. Due to the nature of the role there will always be something to do in either team. Some parts of the year are busier than others. You are able to both work independently and collaboratively. A lot of the work is used across the studios so it is satisfying seeing more senior roles using what you were working on.
Support & Guidance
I was always reminded that there were no silly questions. Time was regularly taken out to show me the processes and what is affected by the work I do. If you get given the opportunity sign up for the YPN or any mentorship programme as it allows you to network and gain the knowledge of opportunities across the business. The internship programme really want to give you a job, you need to be proactive.
Culture
So welcoming and friendly. There was not one person i came across that I didn't like. Everyone wanted to get to know the interns and it was a very comforting environment to be in.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it so much. This gave me the opportunity to go on set, the chance to go to screenings or premiers. There is so much going on, it won't feel like you're working the whole time!
Yes
This internship is so great for anyone that isn't 100% sure on what they think their career is going to be. There is not a graduate programme so you will need to look yourself for opportunities which are on an internal careers website. However you need to seek it out yourself.
