    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • This scheme offered an amazing insight into one of the largest law firms in the world, pulling back the curtains on a sector which may be unfamiliar to non-law students. The firm organised talks from employees from differing departments and so insight beyond the standard commerically-dominated sectors was provided. Hopefully the information provided by the firm will be useful in Vacation Scheme applications.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Very welcoming. Every speaker seemed thrilled to be there and speaking to a physical audience for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic. The enthusiasm from each speaker rubbed off, I've left the scheme thinking I want to qualify in all of the departments! As far as enabling the attendees to break the ice, the management did a great job, by the end of the scheme people were very friendly.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Greatly. Again as said earlier, this scheme offered an amazing opportunity to find out more about life in a law firm to a non-law student. Given the number of non-law students who attended and had the same opinion shows how well designed it was. The talks were interesting and the workshops engaging.

  • 7. Would you recommend DLA Piper to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DLA Piper
  • For this scheme, write about something relevant and you find interesting. I wrote mine about the energy crisis but others wrote about anti-monopoly policies in America. There isn't a correct thing to write about as long as it is relevant!
