The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement, I learnt so much and everyone is very friendly and a great laugh.
It is a little family community within your team but also within the company as a whole. We did a lot together as a team, such as drinks and team lunches. I felt a valued member of the team from pretty much day 1.
Supprt and guidance given as much or as little as you want/need it. They are happy to hold your hand if needed but also are willing to give you as much responsibility as you want and deserve.
It very much varies depending on whether there is a release upcoming. There are very busy times but these are balanced out by quieter times which give you the time needed to get everything done, ready for the next busy period. There were hardly any days when I felt too busy, and if I did then my manager was there to help me prioritise.
I wasn't quite running the show but was given a lot of responsibility from quite early on. You have to earn it though by showing you are capable.
I learnt a lot of valuable skills during my placement. The usual such as team work, time management etc, but also how to talk to people on a professional level (not as easy as it sounds) among other skills that will be a huge help in my future career
The Company
It is Disney after all!
We had some big changes in our team so at times it felt like things were very unorganised but there is nothing that could have been done about that.
There was a slight lack of training opportunities, but it depends on what department you are in
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Healthcare/Dental
Easy to get good contacts but they can not secure a job for you. You have to just see what is available once you graduate.
The Culture
There are a lot of interns within the company so the social side is great - its like being a uni!
London is pretty expensive.
Despite being slightly on the expensive side, London has a great night life - you couldn't ask for more!
There is a group called Volun'Ears which allows you to get involved in charity and community work through Disney. There are also a lot of sports teams etc.
