Overview
We were offered a range of interactive sessions everyday. These ranged from specific business areas (such as Global Banking) to learning more about the UBS culture (such as their Volunteering Scheme). We were also offered networking sessions and socials.
Skills
We received specific external training courses on investing and a general introduction of financial markets. Internally, each business area also gave us an introduction into the technical side of their work. We also had personal branding sessions, which taught us about interviews, body language and how to display the best versions of ourselves.
Business Insight
I found this highly informative and engaging. The design of the UBS spring programme allowed the participants to focus on simply learning as much as possible about the bank and the different areas. We were encouraged to be curious and ask questions in order to take the most out of the process, and I would say we all learnt about which areas we are interested in and which we are perhaps not.
Culture
The people at UBS came across as very friendly and supportive, which was echoed by the speakers that we met. We learnt about their diversity initiatives, as well as their desire to help local community, the environment, and to give to charity. There is also a range of networks where like-minded people from all areas of the bank can meet.
Your Impressions
I highly enjoyed the program. All the people I met from the bank were very supportive and friendly from the Junior Talent Team to the speakers. Furthermore, they allowed the participants to network and socialise, which made the program even more enjoyable.
Yes
I would say to prepare well for the interview. Do your research on the bank, their values, and what they look for in an employee. Also to become accustomed to the video interview software, because it can be quite daunting and bizarre the first time.
