Overview
Drafting/amending transactional documents, conducting legal research into matters for current cases, sitting in on conference calls.
Skills
Developed existing skills of client management, commercial awareness and practical judgment in a legal context.
Business Insight
Good exposure to various tasks while sitting in departments; supervisors made the effort to include us on as many varied tasks as practicable. Talks by various departments and practice areas helped gain a better understanding into the firm and its culture.
Culture
Greater awareness of the importance of being inclusive and accepting of differences. Tangible steps taken to improve inclusiveness. People are respectful and supportive of personal interests outside of law, and are happy to support non-traditional business development/outreach work. No face-time culture is refreshing.
Your Impressions
Substantially enjoyed the insight. People from all levels of seniority were happy to take time out to chat and introduce their work; my edits and proposed amends were incorporated into the final work product - which showed they valued all inputs big or small.
