Overview
On the first day, it consists of firm-wide introduction and divisional training from Financial Edge. On the second day, the training continued and then in the afternoon, it was project announcement and preparation time. On third day, there was the presentation in the morning and another project in the afternoon and then final day consists of presentation in the morning and then farewell in the afternoon. And every lunchtime, there was networking opportunities.
Skills
Yes definitely, firstly the training provided an insight into the three accounting tables. Through the two projects, I have learnt both about the advisory and financing side of IBD at GS.
Responsibilities
Yes a lot, we had a turnaround of half a day and the night to prepare a deck for both presentations so it was demanding but it was also very satisfying as well! The need to balance time spent on project and also being ready for agenda of the day was challenging but also fun at the same time!
Support & Guidance
A lot as well, with both of the projects, we had analysts of the firm to come in and help us and there was the buddy to talk to as well! I felt comfortable to email and ask questions to anybody in the firm.
Culture
Goldman Sachs has great atmosphere and a great teams culture, I absolutely enjoyed my time there! It was fast-pace but also friendly - a very teamwork focused company. Everybody you met in the company is energetic and you can see their passion on their face.
Your Impressions
To a full extent, I think through this experience I have a better idea in terms of IBD and the company itself. The hands-on experience was invaluable and we can see that the team has put a lot of effort into the programme to make it a good experience.
Yes
I think firstly, getting your CV ready! I think GS is one of the firms that looks at CV and if you manage to get to the next stage, the Hirevue, make sure you prepare some scenario questions and know the values of GS. There wasn't any competency or motivational questions, mainly just scenarios-based.
